Inspiration

I came across the Beinart homepage http://beinart.org/ today and was blown away when I discovered two artists there that struck a chord in me so very deeply. Chris Mars I had heard about before. He is already famous with works of his fetching in excess of 50,000USD. That being said, it wasn't until today that I really LOOKED at his work and when I did, it just blew me away. I saw influences of Bosch and Breugel in his oil paintings albeit contemporary and new and it enthralled me to no end...Today was the day I discovered Chris Mars

The other artist is Karl Persson. Wow! What talent, similarities to Michael Hussar but also many other influences I found overtly in his work, esp HR Giger. Karl is just amazingly talented and I can only hope one day to be able to work in a similar fashion.

Needless to say that both of these artists, along with my trusty Hussar familiar Hans Memling at my side, have inspired me to paint this weekend. They have also forced me to take a long hard look at what I have painted so far and have inspired me to improve on my achievements and to tackle new challenges.  Chris and Karl, thank you!

Explorers
acrylic on canvas, 7"x13" by Mipa Lee

I bought this from a friend of mine, Mipa Lee. She is really very talented. With "Explorers" I just loved how surreal this picture is and had to have it for myself.

Please check out Mipa's website www.mipalee.com

acrylic on canvas. 10"x8", 2009

Dave Mckean's Joker from the graphic novel "Arkham Asylum" by Grant Morrison. Now I've always been fascinated with this painting and decided to have a go at painting it myself. This is the result.. All in all  I am quite happy. Oh BTW. this is my first ever acrylic painting and my first painting in over 22 years....
